A little something on the very much beloved cartoon diva, Ms Betty Boop-A-Doop (that i know)

Betty Boop is known as the first and one of the most famous sex symbols on the animated screen, she was a symbol of Depression Era, a reminder of the more carefree of Jazz Age flappers.

Her popularity was drawn largely from adult audiences, and the cartoons, while seemingly surrealistic, contained many sexual/psychological elements.

Betty Boop is important to animation history for the first cartoon character to fully represent a sexual woman. Betty Boop wore short dresses, high heels, and a garter belt. Her breast were suggested with a low, contoured bodice that showed cleavage.

There was however a certain girlish quality in the character. She was drawn wit a head bigger than normal for an adult, but normal for a baby. This suggested the combination of girlishness and maturity many people saw in the flapper type which Betty Boop was supposed to represent.
With her overt sexual appeal, Betty was a hit with filmgoers and despite having tones down in the mid- 1930's she remains popular today.

She's been around for 70 years now and she still retains her girlish figure and while her career isn't what it used to be, animated cartoon character Betty Boop lives on as something of a cult figure. No matter of her age or her employment status, Betty Boop is still...

Hollywood's first animated sex symbol.
